Last week IHOP teased it would be be flipping it’s P and rebranding as IHOb, leaving us all to guess what the b could possibly stand for. After a week of speculation, yesterday the pancakery announced to confusion and concern of it’s all that it would now be the International House of (b)urgers. Many purveyors of cheap meat saw this as an opportunity of up their street credit by taking shots at IHOb and it’s rebranding. It certainly seems to have worked out for them since they are getting that SWEET SWEET organic reach every time an article such as this one gives them a nod for free.
This opportunity for free press was something that a few particularly pathetic brands could not help but attempt riding the coattails of in spite of having ABSOLUTELY no business doing so. I speak of course of GameSpot, or *~*~GamePAnCaKE~*~* as they are now insisting they are called. *~*~GamePAnCaKE~*~* has been reveling in it’s “great take” on the joke of the day. Never before has this reporter seen a media outfit seen a media outlet celebrate ripping off a joke in such a brazen self congratulatory manner. Here are a few tweets posted since the change.

Those are just a few of the tweets we encountered. As they day carried on they only became more desperate and nasty. Eventually they started tweeting at individual followers asking if they had seen what they did to their name. Truly Pathetic.
What do you expect from a “news” site that now posted one-fact-per-page slideshows after being in business for 22 years?
